info on pre-adoption scotland 1918

I desparatly need info on how children found adoptive/foster parents in scotland 194-18.My mother was born in the Hospice the High Street E

I guess before formal arrangements, things were arranged informally, so there will probably be no written record to find. If you know the place your mother was born you can try finding out if/where their archives are kept. nell

a lot of the children were placed with foster parents etc - this was before the social work dept came into being - I have been helped greatly by a charming gentleman from fife social services who gave me details of where to look - in my case the fostering ws done through the catholic church and s you may know these records have nearly all been destroyed - but if you contact sca@ catholic-heritage.net with as much info as you have they will try their best to assist.
