Jeanette, Thanks, I will suggest that to the GR member as I think that should be part of their own research. I just intend taking whatever photos I can when there. Christine, Thanks for your advice. I will go along to the church during the week and see what I can find. Kathy

Try the phone book or BT on line for a number for the church warden.

Kathy If the gravestones are in a bad condition, have you had a look at the website for the local family history society for the area. They sometimes have MI's on disc. Jeanette x

It would be worth picking a time when the sunbeams are aslant the suraces so that you can pickout the inscriptions by the shadows - perhaps! Is there a Church notice board - that would normally name contacts. - Or if you can pick up a copy of a parish magazine or news sheet when the Church is open? Christine

E-mail came back "undeliverable", so it looks as if I will just have to take my chances and hope somebody will be about. Apparently gravestones very weathered and hard to read. Kathy

Heather, Thanks - I'll google again and see if there is a telephone number/e-mail addy. Kathy

See if the church has a website, most of them do now - and there will probably be an email addy or phone no. for the Church Warden.

I am helping someone on the boards track down their ancestors' gravestones and take photos. Can anyone give me a rough idea of when is the best time to find someone at a country church to help with the whereabouts of gravestones/burial dates. Presumably not at church service times. The church is about 12 miles away, so I want to have the best chances of success and finding as many rellies as possible. Kathy
