HI after downloading a will half of it seems to be missing and is mostly unreadable I have sent them an email about it. What I was wondering was has anyone else had the same trouble if so do that put it right or can they? Thank you Margaret

Margaret All the Wills I have downloaded are a bit unreadable and Ive had to clean them up myself. When they are cleaned up you can see that you almost always have part of someone elses Will either at the begining or the end. Sheila

Same here, with hubbys G.G.Grandmothers will we had part of someone elses at the beginning and the end....then there was the fun of deciphering the writing, how flowing was the lettering then.........?. But in the end it was worth it and to think you're holing a copy of an 1824 document is quite amazing really ....... Elaine

If you go to the crown court there is a probate office were all the wills from England and Wales are from 1850 to 1966 if you want other years have to go to main offices

Occasionally a will runs to more than four pages and for your £3.50 there are two or more sections to download. I've always had clear images, which isn't the same as legible. The most recent wills are the most difficult to read. If the will is missing either the preamble or the probate, notify TNA. Zoe o'er the border had this problem recently. B

Hi To you all, thank you and Shelia how do you clean them up? I have part of the will and then a gap and then rest of it, I really do not know alot about computers so have no idea how you clean it up. Thanks Margaret

I use the paint programme. You can blow it up and see each word then go round it in white. when you put it back to normal size you can read it quite clearly. It takes a while but is well worth it. I think Ive done about 10 Wills now Sheila

Where did you manage to download the Will from? I can't seen to access any!

Margaret I downloaded a will a couple of weeks ago whereby the first page was the guy I was after and the following 5 pages were someone completely different - of course I didnt discover this until I'd transcribed the five pages and got to the bit at the end. I got an email back within 24 hours saying they'd rescan the document but it would take 25 working days MINIMUM to do. If you want any help reading it you can send it over to me - I'm getting quite good at it now Zoe

Hi Yes I sent them an email and they said they would refilm it and send it again but could take up to 25 days. So I am waiting to see what happens Margaret x
