Steel in Yorkshire

I am looking for the father of 2 of my mothers relatives. They are Mary J Steel 1867 and Robert Steel 1869 both born in Stokesley, Yorkshire. We know there mother was Frances Steel maiden name Sawkill, but her and ? Steel married after 1861 and he dies before the 1871 census so we stuck! We know that we could get a birth certificate for one or other of them which shold have fathers name on it but we can't find a refence code for them to order the certificate. Any help would be very much appreciated. |

you will need a birth cert to be sure if you have an exact date and place of the event then that should be enough to order a certificate. I've ordered some myself without the reference codes jamie |

Hi, Thanks For the reply, however i know they married before he died which was before 1871 and so the person you have posted can't be her. But Thank You anyway x I know the man she married was called Steel, this is my mothers maiden name and she has found out lots about other lines of family but due to not being able to find this man she is stuck on the Steel line x |
