Alice, Have you found them on a census? 1871 census (RG 10/365 Folio 60 p.16 ) He is living at 83, Golden Buildings, St. Clement Danes. Joseph Adams head, married, 75, Boot maker, born Suffolk. Ann Adams, wife, married, 54, born Suffolk. also Andrew Malten, lodger, unmarried, a porter, born Suffolk. Sorry there isn't more information. Perhaps an 1851 or 1861 census look up would give more information. Rosemary(Essex)

Hi Alice Was it the parish registers you were looking at? Are the Bishops Transcripts available at the records office? Might be worth a look to see if they are on there. Jeanette x

I already had the birth of his children and all three marriages from a previous look up. Today I was planning to zoom back and find his birth in 1796 but nothing there and no references to the surname.. I also saw nothing for the families of two of his three wives, and although I found the surname of the other wife her birth was not there either. I looked in both Little and Great Glemham (2 parishes fairly close together) with no luck. He was a shoemaker - don't know if he would have leaened this trade in a village? With names like Joseph Adams and Hannah Butcher how do I go about finding them? Not sure I want to play anymore.... Any ideas or advice welome. Alice
