Could someone please tell me how I find out where a family member from 1800 + would be buried - how do I get to know the name of the cemetry? Many thanks Sue

Well it depends on where they lived and died. Most people would be buried locally - but many londoners got buried further afield. If there was a family plot they could be buried in that. My gt grandfather died in Finchley, North London but was taken (during the 1st world war) back up to the Norfolk village where his wife was buried. Start with the burial registers in the parish where your relative died and work outwards. nell

Sue, Are you able to determine where they lived? The town? The village? Once you have that the burial site should be easy to find. John

I have found one or two of mine in the National Burial Index....Records Offices and large libraries will have a copy. Otherwise you will have to look through burial registers of places where they lived. After civil registation began in 1837 you will begin to find their deaths in freeebmd and 1837online.... but I don't know about burials then.Joan
