Fi Have you downloaded all the available leaflets from the National Archives website? Do you know the soldier's regiment or the year the convict was transported? If either the records you are searching have indexes, or you have already found a specific catalogue reference to look up, all well and good. Turning up without a clear idea of which records you need to look at can prove to be tiring and dispiriting unless there is an index to lead you to the records you want. Good luck B

Can't help re the convicts but army details if you know the regiment are on the first floor middle back. When you get on the 1st floor best ask at the help desks. If you need to order documents best to do this asap, you don't have to be there waiting for them, so whilst you wait you can search elsewhere. Make sure in your mind you know what it is you are hoping to achieve. You will be amazed at how the time flies. Hope you understand all this. lol Good luck

I have only been there once before and on that occasion I met up with someone and helped with their research as they knew what they were looking for. I have details about a Great Grandfather being in the Boer War. I also have details about a Great x 4 or something like that being a convict and shipped to Australia. I would like to find some official paperwork on this. Does anyone have any advice about where in NA's I might find this info. Thanks Fi
