I was scaning a web site called Flagg Island as they had a list of names that included one I am traceing,(Simons) all taken from BDMs for the area. When I came across these names. And I am hopping like hell they turn up in my tree..... Happy Simons age 3 weeks 01/05/1821 Hemsby Burials... Nice as that name is I thought He must of died so young they could not think of a name so called him that as he was a Happy baby. But NO in the next box up Hemsby Marriages I found these names...Happy Simons. Wife Christmas Hall..... A bit late but YES... HAPPY CHRISTMAS....And I am not kidding they are there |

Happy used to mean "lucky". It's certainly not so for the baby that died. I have a gt gt grandmother called "Honor" but she gave birth about a fortnight after her wedding, so not the best choice of name, I feel. nell |

While searching for one of my hubbie's relatives, I came across a child delightfully christened BALDY Buchanan! Husband was not too chuffed when I explained the cause of my hoots of laughter - as he is pretty bald himself now! Ellen. |
