Hi, does anyone know if you can view wills from 1907 at Kew? I might be going next week and dont know if to bother sending for a will from York if they let you view them at Kew. Also, if i find what i want at Kew, do they let you copy the papers or do you just have to make notes? Regards, Claire

Wills at Kew tend to be approx pre 1864. You need to go to Probate Office in High Holborn to view the BOOKS which will give you details of wills from approx 1864 onwards. Will not be able to see the actual will but can obtain enough knowledge usually to ascertain whether will is the one you want. Then you will have to order at a cost of £5. Address of PRINCIPAL PROBATE OFFICE: Principal Probate Registry Probate Dept Principal Registry of the Family Division First Avenue House 42-49 High Holborn London WC 1V 6NP Tel: 020 7947 7000 There are many other DISTRICT OFFICES: http://www(.)lawontheweb(.)co(.)uk/basics/probateoffices.htm Remove brackets Janet

They have Wills index up to 1943 at Kew on microfiche.Gives exactlly the same info as the books at Holborn. This would then give you enough info to order a copy of the Will from the Probate Registry.
