Hi Was wondering if anyone out there lives near Hayton in Yorkshire nr Pocklington and could tell me if Hayton Grange Farm still exists. I see there is a Hayton Grange -is this on the same land or part of the old farm. I have three generations of Staveley rellies who owned this farm, at least between 1851-1901 and would love to know more about it. Regards Jackie

Hi Jackie, I'll ask my dad for you as he knows most of North, North East Yorkshire. Nicky

Hi Jackie, Sorry to disappoint but that is one particular area that my father doesnt know very well and doesnt visit very often. Why dont you take a trip and visit the area and have a look around yourself. I recently did this, travelled 130 miles to my parents then another hours drive to a village when my ancestors lived for 100 years with many generations. I even found numerous houses where they lived. Sorry I cant help Nicky

Thanks for asking, Nicola. I live in Devon, so rather a long way to visit. Will get there one day. Best wishes, Jackie

Jackie Looking at a modern map on www streetmap co uk Hayton Grange is a building at the end of a drive off the road out of Hayton. I would imagine this was either the original farm, or perhaps the manor, with the farmhouse on part of its land. As Hayton Grange is just down the road from Pocklington, you might find a phone call here will answer your query: Pocklington Library Station Road Pocklington North Yorkshire YO42 2SQ Tel: (01759 303373) If the farm still exists, it might even be in the phone book. nell

Thankyou so much Nell. Will give them a ring tomorrow. This is brilliant news hearing it is on the road to Pocklington. This confirms a possible family link with a Pocklington line. Best wishes, Jackie x
