Ive been trawling for this so I can get marriage cert from local office rather than old friends at GRO but although I find Westminster archives it does not seem to offer a certificate service?

Oh that would be great. I have the Great Gran of hubby birth ref: Elizabeth Ellen Jenkins County: London Surrey Volume: 1a Page: 492 (click. Name: Jenkins, Ellen Elizabeth Record Type: Births Quarter: March Year: 1895 District: St George Hanover Square and sister: Annie Jenkins, St George Hanover Square 1a Page 448 4th quarter 1897 County: London Surrey I know her father is Thomas Jenkins, a soldier, but I cannot find the mother. I was going to send off for the birth certificate. The mothers first name is Ellen and she was born in Longcroft Berkshire but thats all I have gleaned from the census return of 1901. This is her brother Albert Jenkins St George Hanover Square1a Page 471 1st qtr 1894.

Beware, some register offices in London refer you straight back to the GRO for 'family history' certificates as they are too busy with the number present day registrations to search their archives. Have you seen the other entries for that marriage reference? HILLYARD, Annie Margaret HUGHES, Charles Ernest Jenkins, Thomas Longland, Helen If you have found the right one then Helen dropped her aitches when she gave her info for the census :-)

Yes, I had that when I contacted Southwark for a cert.

Many thanks, yes I did see that one and I had a go at looking for Helen (Ellen) Longland. But I was mistaken, that cant be the marriage. On the 1901 Ellen gives birthplace as Longcroft Berkshire and there isnt any Ellen Longlands there unfortunately on any census. Plus the youngest kiddie is also Ellen Elizabeth. Many thanks for trying to help. Much appreciated.
