I have already asked for look ups 1851 on Records office for my Barrett family but had no luck.Just wondered if Ancestry was easier to search as I dont like keep asking.

Linda The earliest complete (ish!) census on ancestry is 1871. There's samples of 1851 but not much. Lou

Linda You can type name, year of birth, country and county into the search boxes on the first page and it gives you 'best matched' choices of people roughly the right age and right area. It's just a matter then of clicking on each person to get the details of who they are living with to try and find yours! Lou

Linda You need to start with the info you have and work backwards. The information you got from 1851, does it show Thomas and Hannah as married and, if so, have you located their marriage details? Lou

Lou.All I have is a marriage on the IGI far Thomas & Hannah 1836 in Packwood Warwickshire. This would tie in with the first chr I have of Joseph 1838 and I have found a Joseph married &living in Oldbuty in 1881,and a couple of others b Pacwood living Oldbury.Linda

Linda The first thing to do would be to obtain one of the children's birth certificates as this would confirm Hannah's maiden name. Try and locate possible deaths for Thomas and Hannah. That will give you an indication of the census to look for. No point hunting for someone on the 1871 if they died before it was done! Look for any possible marriages for the children. Did they have a daughter? In 1881 there is a Thomas Barrett born 1811 Warwickshire living with the Hadley family as the Father in Law. Could this be one of his daughters, her husband and family? Hope that helps Lou
