By subscribing (free) to the rootsweb mailing lists, I was found by living people and therefore found people after 1901. Joy

This is a bit hard if its between 1901 and mid 1911. Mid 1911 they started to put the partners surname against the marriage indexing. Also at the same time they started to put the mother maiden with the birth, so if you have found a marriage then you will be able to find any children with the same name i.e. John Smith married Mary Wilson, children with the surname Smith and Wilson for the mother in the same district are likly to be their children. Bad example with Smith. If you can get to the Local family history centres then you could check the Elect. Roll book, not forgetting that women didn't get the vote until 1928, some older women did after 1923 but they were around the age of 50 but I am not 100%. They may still have been at home over 21. All the old electoral roles right up to present day are in the county records office (well they are for Leicester anyway) i'm quite lucky as i live nearby to the Leicester one but if you don't live near the one you need you might be able to get someone on the records board to do a look up for you.

The UK ancestry site has that info on too. I've traced traced some of mine through the old electoral roles, it won't have the kids but has any older children still living at the address. Only prob is women weren't on till 1921

no its for England and Wales, I found my grandmothers birth in 1911 and her brothers death in 1984, both of Greenwich London. I've also traced several marriages through them very useful as it gives you the list of everyone on the same GRO number therefore you can get full names of possible partners. Very handy if you know the first name already but not the surname. Use the free trial Ancestry offer. Louise

I've found that the US Ancestry site has some entries of births and marriages upto 1911 plus deaths up to 1980, not complete but very very useful.

Best way that I've found is through tracing living descendants, either through this site or on similar websites. I recently found some 2nd cousins in South Africa by placing a newspaper ad in a South African "trying to find" column (or actually, a very kind South African GR member placed it for me!).

I don't think you can... The 1911 census isn't out until 2012.
