I have been timed out time and time again (excuse pun) after 3 secs, surely this is not right... getting really fed up with it now!!!

I had exactly the same problem as you on our brand new computer. When I consulted my husband about it he said that our anti-virus software was rejecting it. Of course there is no way that we are taking it off. I really thought that this happening was a bit sinister. I have been using the site on another computer but had to change my password to get into it.

Yeah, have tried deleting cookies, no joy! I am sulking with it now (lol!) Sarah Update** Now it isn't letting me log in at all, just returns me to the homepage when I put in my username/password. Asks me to log in. They have taken away my session timed out notice and everything..........!!!

I'm sure I read in their smallprint, that you do get 'timed out' after a certain time of inactivity - just like you do on 1837, this is to protect the 'sensitive' info from being accessed by other 'unathorised' users who maybe on your computer.

I do wonder if this timing out thing is why some of us get zero results because we think the program has searched but it hasnt.

I time out as soon as I click to navigate any part of the site, I would love 10 minutes! My maximum time on there has extended to about 3 seconds! Sarah

Hi Crista Some people said 10 mins, others have said 20 But all I was saying was that maybe it would be an idea to extend that a little. Sometimes it can take me 20 mins to find the info, print it out, check it against my tree/notes to see whether I need to continue searching and I'm timed out. It wasn't a critisism, just a suggestion that a longer period might be more appropriate Lou

Don't the sessions only time out after 20 minutes of inactivity? Crista

I emailed them about the same thing. They sent me a message back simply thanking me for my comments and said that they were passing them to their technical department with a view to extending the session time. No other suggestions!

I have had problems with this site, each time I go onto it, it tells me my session has timed out and I have to log in again. Anyway I have been in email communication with them for two days now, they have suggested various things such as am I putting in the correct password (?!!), is my pc using old software (?no!), and now they are recommending I switch off my firewall. Now I am not THAT hot on computers, but I know this can be dodgy, luckily my brother is an IT man (who has advised me what to say to them!) Yes I am right, this is not good, and you shouldn't switch it off as you are leaving your computer open to invasion by nasty things! (At least this is how I have interpreted his advice!) So, if you get the same reply from them, do so at your peril... Just thought I would share this! (I wish they had given me some free credits though! lol) Sarah
