Hi I'm trying to obtain my g.grandparent's marriage certificate. John Thomas Nolan (birth date not known - died 1957) married Flora Naomi Isaacson (birth date 1894). They had a son John Thomas Frederick Nolan (born 1915). Flora is John's first wife. I have their son's birth certificate hence finding out their full names but now don't know what to do about narrowing the search to get their marriage certificate. Can anyone shed some ideas on this please? Cheers! Hollie

Hi, I have tried to find Flora's marriage by searching the family relatives site but came up with 0 results. To narrow it down, what area was the son born in and does he have any older siblings? I have searched for both partners up to 1920 with no results, sorry.

Hi Heather My grandpa was born in Hammersmith. I know that he had a brother and two sister but are not sure of their names or if they were older and younger. Cheers Hollie

You could check the GRO index around the years of your grandfather's birth. In 1911 they began putting the mother's maiden name in the index so it should be easy to see if he has any siblings just a bit older than him. After that I would search back through the GRO index to find their marriage. Their names are quite distinctive so it souldn't be too hard. It will be a slog though! Anne PS You can search the GRO index free at main libraries, archives or LDS centres.

Sorry, no sign of them on the familyrelatives site.

It appears Hollie has located the marriage as she has a thread on the Records Board about it Lou

What I cant understand, when I looked on familyrelatives there were zilch entries. I have just gone back, same search request and found 2 entries. I had assumed she would have checked freebmd first. I am not sure that this new site is that stable yet. Yesterday I couldnt find another entry which I had already found on bmd.

Hi Kirsteen. I had the birth information about Flora but not on John. We weren't sure if he was born in either England or Northern Ireland. Another bit of info to check out. Cheers Thanks for your help Heather. I had a quick look on the familyrelative site myself as I had never heard about it and had a bit of trouble at first myself. I take it that the site is quite new.
