It seems a bit strange don't you think? Iv'e got the ships official number as well, 160244. It is on the corner of his death certificate. Any idea as to where else I can look?

Could you try for Reddeux, thet seem to have mis-spelt his name! The ship was on it's way to Belfast from Finland.Thanks.

Hi It was definately SS Cara. My uncles name was John (known as Jackie) Reddiex.

are you sure it wasn't the ship "ss ella" as I have found a reference to a murder on that ship in 1953 in the Times Digital Archives. regards, Siobhan

Can anyone help please? My uncle was lost at sea during heavy seas in 1953 aged 19. Aboard the same ship (SS Cara) and during the same trip there was a murder, somebody (an arab) was stabbed, by another arab. On my uncles birth certificate it states cause of death as being "presumed killed or drowned"??????? Any idea where I can find out some more information on this? Thanks.
