Been a member for months now it won't let me in, my name has gone from the home page and it keeps asking me to join. When I put in my email address and password it says it's not recognized. Any help appreciated Linda

Linda I'm having ancestry nightmares at the moment too. Last week it did the same as it has with you and I had to e mail them, get them to tell me the password that I already knew was correct and it let me in. Since then I can click on view image, the image appears but an hour later the download status bar hasn't even moved and the image remains fuzzy. Have e mailed them twice now but still waiting for a reply! Lou

Try emptying cookies and temporary internet folders.....if you're accessing the site through your ISP's browser try minimizing their page and accessing the site through the Internet Explorer icon on your desktop..... Judy :)

Thanks Judy. I deleted those this morning. Also I was going to do a disk fragmenter something or other but started and didn't really understand it so stopped do you think this could have caused the problem. I am a novice at all this. Linda

Linda.....defragmenting is an important routine maintenance job that needs to be done.....No, I'm sure that didn't cause the problem your experiencing. When you emptied the cookies and temporary internet files did you do it using the feature to do so in INTERNET OPTIONS? If so, that didn't completely remove everything. To empty everything in those files you need to do so manually. Emptying cookies and temporary internet files does, though, delete stored passwords on your PC (ie: if your always logged onto Ancestry, or your e-mail.) You would then have to re-enter the information and choose the SAVE option the first time you visit back at those sites. Judy
