The local register offices don't use the GRO references; you just need to tell them the name, quarter and year.

Debbie, Anyone can order a certificate, they are in the public domain. You don't have to ask permission or give reasons. Peter

The problem is he dosnt talk to her either. I just wondered really if the registry office would let me order it. thankyou Debbie

Hi I have the volume and ref number to order a certificate, from my local registry office, which is quicker that the gro. The question is as it is my boyfriends Mum that was born 1939 and she is still alive will they let me order it, I cant ask her as we fell out 2 years ago. I dont want to put her family on this site it would be private but I feel as I have researched my family, I would now like to start on his side for our children. So any answers would be greatful. Thank you Debbie
