I have one ancestor who is on the 1901 census twice. He was registered once at home and once at sea, he was a sailor. Confused me for a while, I thought that it was 2 seperate people and I didn't know which was the right one! Maggy

Hi My Dad was nearly on the 1991 census twice. He was on the one at our house. Next morning he has a heart attack is rushed to hospital - just in time for the offical person taking details of people in hospital!! Luckily we said - perhaps it would have been more fun if we hadn't :-) Penny

Yes it is possible. I had exactly the same in the 1851 census. Jane Clara Michelin was shown living with her parents (My gggg grandparents) and she was also shown at Middlesex Hospital where she later died of tuberculosis. regards, Siobhan

Sometimes there was some confusion. People would record who was usually at the house rather than who was there at the time. Lucia :-)

Hi Maggie, it could be that she was at both address but the infor for each address was taken on a different day. she could have been visiting the second time, people put down whoever was there at the time wether they were living there or not. it's a possibility anyway.

Is this possible? I found my GGG Grandfather, Thomas Elkanah Faldo, and his family on the 1851 census in Rotherhithe. The family included his daughter Martha aged 8. I also found an 8 year old Martha Faldo living with Sarah Culmore (Thomas's Mother-in-law) and her adult children also in Rotherhithe. Martha is shown as neice - I know relationships could be a bit fluid then. Both were born in Rotherhithe and I can find only one record of a birth, no marriages and an unmarried Martha on all census's up to 1881. Is this likely to be the same person - could Thomas have entered her because she was his daughter even though she was living elsewhere?
