I was wondering if anyone could please be of any help with the Yates family in the UK Midlands. I am specifically trying to finding information about HENRY YATES and wondered if anyone could do a lookup on the 1871 Census. The limited information I have about Henry is: Henry Yates born in Birmingham (I think). Henry married Emma. Son: William Yates b. 15 Dec 1861 in Birmingham, d. 05 Jun 1913 in Coventry, William married Maria Edwards (14 Apr 1884 in Coventry). I would be very grateful if you could be of any help. Thanks for your time and happy genealogy. Dave

Hi Heather, thank you so much for such a quick reply. It's 2am and you answered this post in about 15 mins!!! WOW... The info on your first reply looks good but the thing that puts me off is William is only listed as being 5 years old and if this is from the 1871 Census then he should be 10 as he was born in 1861. What do you think? The second reply show Henry married to Sarah (not Emma), unless he remarried - which may be possible... Hmmm, food for thought but I'm just not absolutely sure. Thanks for your time Heather - you’re a diamond...

Hi Linda, thanks so much to you too. Your info looks very similar to Heathers first reply but with William listed as 9 which would be about right. I wonder why there was the dicrepancy between the two sets of data? I wonder if Heather mis-typed it as Charles is also 5 years old on that information. Anyway, that looks good - could I please ask where you sourced the information from please? Thanks again so much, Dave.

Hi David I obtained the info from Ancestry Plus, from the image. On the first page it does say that William is 5, but when you look at the image it looks more like 9 than 5. Regards Linda

David, the second Henry I gave you as I thought it looked like your guys father. I wasnt giving him as your Henry, just a possible link. I gave the ref so you could look up both of the entries and see the images yourself. It is in same area as Henry junior.
