hi, i am trying to find information on sarah ford who was adopted by my great great grandparents thomas and marinda poole from stoke on trent in the mid 1800s. the trouble is, i don't know where to start. any info would be greatly appreciated. denise |

Denise There was no such thing as official adoption until 1927. Before that it was usually a private arrangement between families with no legality involved. If you have a look at Sarah McLean's Essential Tips thread I'm sure there's a piece on it that explains it better Lou |
