My gg grandfather was born in the 1850's and on his birth certificate for where he was born it just says Gypsy Hill London. Now I don't think he was born in the street -any thoughts anyone?

Hi, Gypsy Hill is an area in south east London, I think near Crystal Palace.

Gipsy Hill [spelt with i] SE19 is just west of Crystal Palace park, north of Norwood, south east of West Norwood and has its own railway station. Just north is West Dulwich. If you want the exact address, you could do a search in the area for the 1851/61 census. nell

There you are Susan, if you do get an address, there are a couple of people who could whip round and take a photo of it for you!

Thanks for all the info. Its just that the birth cert says Gypsy Hill - no door number or building name. I just thought that was rather odd. I live in Bromley so I am not that far from Gypsy Hill.
