Please can anyone tell me how to find my father's grave? I know that he was buried somewhere in London. I don't know the exact year when he died, but within 5 years. Barbara

I suggest you find his death in the Birth marriage death indexes, then order the certificate. This will say where he died and might narrow your search if he was buried locally Good luck

When you know where he died, you may be able to find an archive newspaper report of his death, and more informative, of his funeral. I have recruited my son to do some newspaper research for me (the relevant library is just near where he's living and working at the moment), and he rang me today to say that he's found the newspaper account of my grandmother's funeral and visited the church where it took place - although the graveyard has disappeared into a development of some kind. I can hardly wait for tomorrow's post: it should bring the copy of the newspaper article. I'm hoping it will be as good as the copy of the account of my husband's g-grandmother's funeral, which gave a comprehensive list of who attended - and how they were related - absolute gold-dust! Barbara, If you can let us know what part of London he was living when he died, we can help find local cemeteries for you to contact. If not, you will need to search the deaths indexes for the five years you believe he died and order his Death Certificate from the GRO which will give his address when he died. Kathy
