The Scottish site goes back for births 1553 to 1854 then from 1855 to 1903 marriages go up to 1928 and deaths go from 1855 to 1953 very good site some you can look at and down load others further back if not got it you need to order but more information on certificates

Most definitely but also scotsorigins(.)com. Sometimes it helps to narrow it down using scotsorigins as you can search by county and place and then find it on scotlandspeople. Scotlandspeople is a fantastic site - just wish my rellies were scottish - so am researching hubby's scottish roots instead of my own (anglo-irish!!!) nightmare!!!

The one and only Scotlands People! You will get teh original certs online - costs 6 pounds for 30 credits. 1 credit to find index and 5 to see cert. There are limits on dates though. www.scotlandspeople.gov.uk

I have just found my gggrandfather and found that he came from Glasgow! Can someone give me advice as to any Scottish sites that are useful in helping me to go further back..thanks Bev
