I was told a while ago that you can apply for unclaimed medals. I would love to get my Dad's. But where do I write? He served in the army.

Hi, You need to write to: MINISTRY OF DEFENCE, Army Medal Office, Government Office Buildings, Droitwich, Worcs., WR9 8AU. I think you need to have proof of relationship, though. Regards, Mary

Jane yes do it I did it for my Nan she hadn't claimed her medal either. I wrote on her behalf, but as she was living, she signed a brief leter stating i had her full permission to ask for these medals. It was a fast service though so be prepared to wait Shellixxx

The claim for medals must be made by the eldest next of kin or as already been mentioned a letter authorising some one else to apply but signed by the eldest next of kin. I had asimilar problem some years ago over 1 missing medal and the cost of having a researcher was rather expensive . With the cost of a medal to replace one lost the cost was almost prohibitive. If however such medals have not been claimed before there shold be no cost involvement on that side. Good luck. Rupert.
