Twins and Page/Vol details

There's no way to tell where on a page. In answer to your second question I would think the registrar would ask one childs name, write it in the book, then ask the other. It would depend which name the parents gave first. Is the surname fairly unusual or is it likey another family with the same name could have registered a birth the same day? Post the names and we can have a look and give our opinions.

Thanks Helen, I sthere anyway of knowing whether the birth was last on the page? I have been looking ofr a birth and found one as 2C 201 and then another as 2C 202. Also do you know if it would be the first born who would be registered first or is it alphabetical. Thanks Again. Jayne

Twins should be on the same page but if one was the last entry on one page the second may be on the next. The time of birth should be on the certificate but much depended on the registar. I have found twins with no time and a single birth with a time.

If twins are born are they registered under the same reference, ie 1X 123, or would it be 1X 123 and 1X 124. Alos since 1837 have all twin births been annotated with time after date of birth. Thanks, Jayne
