How do I go about finding the birth of my g/g/grandfather. FRANCIS POOLE. The only information I have about him is he married a VAIR ROBERTON in Leeds Yorkshire in 1830

George With difficulty! If you can locate the marriage in the parish register - and there are probably quite a few parishes in Leeds - then it will state whether or not he was "of this parish" - which just means where he was living at the time of the marriage. You can then check the same parish's baptism registers for his birth and then neighbouring ones. Alternatively, you could try to find him on the 1841 census or 1851 which would give his place of birth and his age. Then you'd know which parish baptism register to search. nell
