Hi, I have found Samuel Govier on all Census from 1871 to 1901. Nothing before that, this is proberly where I would find out more information about his parents. But am pretty sure Samuel's father was called James as it said so on a parish record for his second marriage. Will be ordering Samuel's first marriage certificate soon.

Fern, Have you looked for your Goviers on Ancestry? If not, let me know a few names and dates and I can take a peep for you. Louise

Cor that was quick thank you. Was there no one else living with them? Still can't decide whether they are related. Am looking for Govier's in Bideford, Devon. Went onto Free BMD typed in all the spellings for Govier and all they came up with was Glover, couple of things fit but I don't know. Will have to keep digging thanks anyway for your help. Fern.

Forgot to say that his occupation was "fish dealer" and there was no one else in the household. L

Hi would someone be able to look up a James Glover in 1871 please as I have lost my free trial and am having difficulties accessing the whole household on Ancestry. James Glover is married to Betsey Glover and in 1881 were living in Bideford, Devon. In 1871 James should be about 52 and was born in Parkham, Devon and Betsey should be about 62 and was born in Buckland, Devon. Not sure these people are related to me but must double check as I have followed the wrong track once to many. Thanks, Fern.
