btw its El Alamein - there is lots of info on this website www.cwgc.org useful info about various wargrave sites and you can do a namesearch if you are looking for fallen ancestors regards teresa

My father was also at El Alamein, he too went missing for a few days, presumed dead. I have sent for his army records, it costs £25 and because of the huge backlog at the MOD it will take 6-8 months before I receive them. My father was with the RAOC, from London.

It's desert and El Alamein. I believe if you google you will find info. My dad was in the 8th army rifle brigade but is now dead so I can't ask him! nell

my Grandfathers brother was in the 8th Army desert or dessert (i never remeber which one is for sand and which one is for pudding!) anyhow, he was missing in action 3 or 4 times and was at el alemain also. have dob etc and was wondering if their is any way of finding and documentation on him? not sure what regiment he was in possible one in Cheshire? any help would be great!
