Sounds like she was a munitions worker to me. There were definitely munitions factories in Letchworth. If you google munitions works in Letchworth there are several links for you to take a look at. Have fun hunting. Louise

On my grandparents marriage certificate (1944), my grand mother's occupation is given as "tube former". At some point in her life, my grandmother worked in a stocking factory, but my mother also thinks she may have worked in a munitions factory. She was living in Letchworth at the time of her marriage. Does any one have any ideas as to which of these occupations tube former might refer, or were there any stocking or munitions factories in the Letchworth area during WW2?
