I've just looked at some vessels at Boston on the 1861 census. One has George Marriot, Master and Ann Marriot, Master's wife - no one else! Don't imagine that being called a Master turned him into Captain Bligh or Admiral Nelson. |

Im sure there was a thread on list before. Try a search. Yes a master mariner was pretty hot stuff so you should be able to trace his papers and ships. Im sure someone will be able to guide you on that. |

is that another term for sea captin? If so - would I be able to find any records of his ships? |
