I cant say Ive found any same sex partnerships so far. In the future our kids can sort out that problem!

Hi Gordon I've recorded same sex partnerships on my tree the same as I have long-term heterosexual relationships where the couple aren't married - the programs I use (GR included) allow you to allocate gender so there's no problem :) David

Gordon I don't know anything about this, but is a partnership going to be treated exactly like a marriage, or will there be differences? Any children of such a same sex partnership would have at least one different biological parent - I think genealogy forms aren't sophisticated enough at the moment! nell

Later in 2005 the government is expected to publish Commencement Orders bringing into effect the Civil Partnership Act. Has any one given any thought or have any ideas as to how same sex partners will be recorded on the genealogy charts? Will it become convention to add names in the colours of the rainbow or will it be (boring) pink? Gordon Hargreaves
