You don't have to pay to access the birth indexes, but that is all they are - indexes. It will give you the year, quarter it was registered, registration district, volume and page which is the info you need to order the cert from GRO. You won't get the info on the cert any other way. nell

Hello all you expert researchers. Am considering buying some credits on Ancestry to look at a census or birth/death records. If I look at a birth record, for instance, what info will I be given?- mother/father, addresses, etc or just the info already seen without paying? Many thanks Elaine Seal
