Thanks Christine - must admit the 'flu' epidemic had completely slipped my mind - food for thought. Will try the sites you have recommended. Ann

I googled and found this site: http://www.northwood.mod.uk/nwood/history/warrior/warrior.htm It gives a potted history of the various ships carrying the name - including your yacht, I think you'll find. There are probably more, but most carry info about the 1860 vessel - the first iron warship, now moored at Portsmouth. Christine

Or you might consider an alternative cause of death: from http://www.stanford.edu/group/virus/uda/ The influenza pandemic of 1918-1919 killed more people than the Great War, known today as World War I (WWI), at somewhere between 20 and 40 million people. It has been cited as the most devastating epidemic in recorded world history. More people died of influenza in a single year than in four-years of the Black Death Bubonic Plague from 1347 to 1351. Known as "Spanish Flu" or "La Grippe" the influenza of 1918-1919 was a global disaster. Christine

Am looking for this ship - all I can find is HMS Warrior in Portsmouth Dockyard - does not appear to be same one from details. I think it might have been a Royal Yacht pushed into service in WW1. Several of the crew are buried in Arlington, USA and died on different dates from Sept 1918 to Jan 1919 so looks as if they have died from injuries. Am researching one of these crew members. Thank you Ann
