help with geography/birth please.x

hi..got a relative(william king)found his marriage to catherine mcmanus on 21st june 1902 in bacup,lancs it gives his age as 21.checked 1837 online for a birth between 1880/1882 but can only find births for rochdale and manchester?? will bacup come under any of these?? it gives his fathers name as william king also...thats all i have.hubby hasnt sorted norton so cannot access free bmd.can anyone help at all please??.x

Haslingden Created 1st July 1837. Sub-districts : Accrington; Bacup; Edenfield; Haslingden; Newchurch; Rawtenstall; Rossendale. GRO volumes : XXI (1837-51), 8e (1852-1930). Accrington, Bacup, Hey and Hall Carr, Cowpe Lench, Hall Carr, Haslingden, Henheads, Higher Booths, Huncoat, Lower Booths, Musbury, New Accrington, Newchurch, Newhall Hey, Old Accrington, Rawtenstall, Tottington Higher End.

Hi A couple of thoughts... The Lancs BMD site http://www.lancashirebmd.org.uk might be useful to you. They haven't got Haslingden births transcribed yet, but one day... Does "21" mean "exactly 21" or "not less than 21" - i.e. old enough to marry without parental consent? Christine

It also means "I am under 21 but have to say I'm 21 in order to marry without parental consent".

hi geoff and christine...ive never thought of that?? just with catherine being 18 and william putting 21 i just asumed he would be?? think i found him on 1891 and 1901 census except he's aged 20 yrs too same wife etc....wierd(my poor gran always knew she was wierd lol know why now its in the genes.)
