Just a quick tip, might be useful to someone. If you have found one of your ancestors to have occupation as nurse, you can contact The Royal College of Nursing on 0131 662 6123. They have records of "State Registered" Nurses from approx 1920 onwards. It gives details of when & where they registered. I have just found this out today, as my g.m was stated as being a nurse on my mother's birth cert. and, as I have hit a brick wall in locating my g.m's birth record on 1837 Online (she should have shown up somewhere around 1905), which means I have no way of knowing where in the country she was born, I am trying this avenue to establish this. lol Jackie

Hello Jaqueline, Which department of the Royal College of Nursing is giving out this information? I hope it is just details of deceased members that they are giving out and not living members. Lesley

I don't think there is a problem with these types of records -as long as it only says when and where the nurse was registered and doesn't give out any personal details.
