I have been loking up my genealogy for a while and hit many brick walls, so now trying a diffrent branch. In this branch i have discovered a picture of my g.g.grandfathers grave stone saying in loving memory of wiliam foot died oct 23rd 1919, susan rolston foot his wife died august 17th 1886 and their 3 infant children. where can i find more about the 3 infant children? where do i start looking?

I had exactly the same. Four infant children I knew nothing about. Fortunately for me the surname was Peck and the town quite small so I went through the GRO index on the free fiche in the library and noted all the births of that name. Then I went through the deaths to find which ones (registered in the same place) died quite soon after. I sent for the death certificates and BINGO I hit the jackpot! Lucky me! You might be lucky and find one on a census but probably they slipped between them. Hope this helps Anne

Yes Judith, you can find the fiche for the GRO index in most large libraries for the whole country. Or you could use 1837online which might work out cheaper if you live a long way from a library and need expensive travel. Anne

In case it's useful to you - there are increasing amounts of Devon on FreeCEN - mainly 1891, I think. Christine
