Hi Christine, If you have his name now, you could try Margaret Drummond she runs the Scottish version of Myfolks, I have found both Joan and Margarets tips invaluable when I was searching, the web site is www(.)scotsconnected(.)com don't forget to remove the brackets when you enter the name. Good Luck with your search! Sheila

Hi Chris ... ....... I think with great difficulty. Although my birth father is not named on my original birth certificate as he denied paternity, he is named on my adoption file. However, he has a fairly common name and was also in and out of various prisons. My birth mother and I are not on good terms, but even when we were for a brief while, she wouldn't tell me any further information. I've since tracked down his old landlady who gave me the true version of a few of birth mother's lies, but we're still no closer to his current whereabouts. The only suggestion I can think of is to try Joan Allen at www(.)myfolks(.)net removing brackets. She runs a very successful tracing service and has helped lots of people on this site. Good luck, Mandy :)

Chris Are you wanting to trace someone still living, or in the past, and do you have a name - or is that what you are trying to find out? nell

Does anyone have any ideas how to trace a birth father if there is no mention of him on the birth cert or adoption papers. My enquiry is related to Scotland but any ideas would be welcome Cheers CHRIS DALRYMPLE
