See new thread North East Death Notices This was posted on the DUR-NBL mailing list. "An index to the Obituaries from the Newcastle Evening Chronicle November 1885 - December 1900 is now online at http://www.genuki.org.uk/big/eng/NBL/Obituaries/ These obituaries are not just for Newcastle but also a great deal of Northumberland and Durham." If you haven't heard of these lists, go to rootsweb and look for your area. They are brilliant sources of information. Jan |

Thanks Jan, I've saved the site to my favourites as my husband's ancestors come from Northumberland, so this might be helpful in the future. Kath. x |

That's brilliant Jan - I immediately found one of mine and have asked the local studies library in Newcastle how I can get hold of a copy of the obit. What would we do without the tips board? Many thanks |

I just noticed that the list is entitled death notices not obituaries (in fact it seems to have changed overnight). Not as useful as obituaries if so - although I suppose some of the people might have proper obituaries anyway. |
