Hi Ruby I had a reply a couple of days ago from someone who I had sent a message to about a week previously. He said that it was the second time he had replied. Now, it is possible that he is mistaken, but I know that I never got the first message. So this raises the question - do messages sometimes not get through at all? If I were you I would write again, in the nicest possible way of course :-) Tina

Hi Helen I've just tested it with my paid up account and the not paid up one and you are still allowed so they must be doing things differently for the 2 sites:) David

David Are you sure about being able to reply when you're not a full member? Its just friends reunited has now changed and to reply to a message it asks you to subscribe first if you aren't a full member whereas it used to let you reply cheers Helen

Sioux I know what you are saying but I think that if they aren't in the mood for genealogy at the time some people just probably ignore the GR e-mails. We who dabble most of the time find it difficult to believe that some people just treat it as a hobby to look at only when they are bored :))))))))))))))) Chrissie x

Well you learn something new every day David, thanks for letting us all know :) Chrissie, When someone sends me a message I get a notification Email from Genes telling me there's a message for me. So even if I didn't log in here regularly I would still be aware that there was a message for me Sioux

Hi Ruby. I think also that a lot of people only come on here occassionally. I had a reply after 9 months that I had given up on after sending two e-mails about a month apart. Don't give up hope but try another e-mail in a couple of weeks. Chrissie x

Hi Sioux I have another account with GR which isn't under full membership - you can reply to messages if you're not a full member - you just can't initiate them:) David

Thankyou Souix, always some item which I hadn't realised about GR. I'll try your suggestion as the lady seems to have entered quite a few names (think that it shews if someone IS afull member somewhere. regards Jane

It's like you say Ruby, frustrating isn't it. Remember people can add their trees to this site for free so you will see the names added but if they're not full members, then they wouldn't be able to reply to a message sent to them I don't think. I always include my proper Email address in my messages when contacting people for the 1st time so they can reply back to me that way. Plus I always put brackets around the (.) because I never know if GR let the address through. Best of luck Sioux

2 Weeks ago a GR member Put the name of Queenie Ackerman(Tottenham 1900) on the New Names list. I dropped a note to her last week and have had no response. This is a name I have searched for on 1837, Ancestry , and BMD for some time, with no luck. It's so frustrating but I don't want o be pushy and there could be any number of reasons for no reply. Any suggestions gratefully recieved Jane
