Any ideas how to find a Regiment ?

My Father-in-law fought in WW2 and we know that he was in the D-Day landings and would like to find out the regiment he was in.Any ideas where i could find out. Have only been doing my family tree at the moment,but my grandson came home from school and said that they where doing a family tree at school he,s only 6 but i think it is great

Hi Val, have you tried the British Legion for the area in which your rellie lived, they should have a role of honour for the dead and also a list of the survivors. Trudy

Val, If you have his full name, date of birth, any next of kin info and address when joining, the MOD should be able to find his records. From that you should obtain his regiment. The MOD contact info has been on these boards aplenty. It costs Pnds 25 currently to obtain a copy of his army service records, plus upto one year's wait Ian
