possible mistranscriptions in 1901 - Walsby

I'm trying to locate Sarah Walsby born about 1852 Middlesex in the 1901 census but no sign either on Ancestry or 1901online Have already tried Halsby, Malsby, Welsby, Walesby. I'm pretty sure it must be a mistranscription as the family details are very consistent over 1871, 1881, 1891 census. She may be living with daughter Ellen Walsby (1882) who is also missing. She's not at same address in Stepney as in 1891 but is probably in the East End of London as her husband's death is registered Bethnal Green in 1900 and Ellen´s marriage takes place in Mile End in 2nd quarter of 1901. Any suggestions for names I could try?

Maybe the 'by' at the end has been transcribed as 'ly' or 'ley'. Janice

Malcolm If this is her, make sure you fill in the amendment form on the 1901 site so they can change it. nell

That was on Ancestry. Have just checked the PRO 1901 site and the surname is spelt correctly there (Walsby). I've noticed that before - there are less mistranscriptions etc on the PRO site than on Ancestry! Still no sign of Sarah though, on either site. Richard

Thanks for your help folks, especially for finding Ellen. I've ordered Sarah's husband's death certificate so with a bit of luck she'll still be at the same address. Or she could be with a married daughter, unfortunately named Mary or Ann :-(
