I have large family of McDonald I am trying to trace. In 1891, 8 Ackmar Road, Fulham John, Head, 33, Bus Driver, b Stratford Anne, Wife, 36, b London Old Ford Frederick, Son, 12, b London Old Ford Anne, Daur, 11, b London Old Ford George, Son, 9, b London Chelsea Clara, Daur, 8, b London Chelsea Henry, Son, 7, b London Chelsea Alice, Daur, 6, b London Chelsea Albert, Son, 8, b London Fulham Arthur, Son, 3, b London Fulham Ernest, Son, 15, b London Fulham Infant, Daur, 2wk, b London Fulham Then in 1901, 79 Bayonne Road, Fulham John, Head, 42, Bus Driver, b Stratford Anne, Wife, 43, b London Whitechapel Anne, Daur, 20, b London Old Ford George, Son, 19, b London Old Ford Clara, Daur, 18, b London Chelsea Alice, Daur, 16, b London Chelsea Albert, Son, 15, b London Chelsea Arthur, Son, 14, b London Chelsea Ernest, Son, 12, b London Fulham Harriet, Daur, 11, b London Fulham Frank, Son, 8, b London Fulham Emma, Daur, 7, b London Fulham William, Son, 2, b London Fulham I know that there are some discrepancies with the ages and places of birth, but I am sure they are the same family. I cannot find any other records for them. I have checked FreeBMD and 1881 and 1871 census, and I cannot find any of them, and where were Frederick and Henry in 1901. I have spent hours and hours checking every permutation I can think of, and nothing. Am I going mad. Were they deposited on the planet by aliens just before the 1891 census, and the whiked away again just after the 1901. Any fresh ideas would be appreciated. Peter

Thanks for that Richard. It has given me something to work from. I noticed that on the IGI, McDonald has a space in it, which is a permutation I hadn't thought of, so I will give that a go.

It would also be worth checking that a transcriber hasn't written what they expected to see and opted for MacDonald instead of McDonald? Searching computers aren't always bright enough to know you might want to check both spellings simultaneously! Christine
