My grandfather George Sales served with the Royal Signals in India from at least 1945-1947, in Miranshah, during the 2nd World War, and held the non- commissioned rank of Warrent Officer |

Hi Nicky I've actually got no idea where in the UK (if anywhere) he was based. I just know he was in India and Egypt when he did his national service which was after WWII finished. Your poor uncle being a POW with the Japanese. I will check the album this evening cheers Helen |

Hi Helen, Do you know if your father was based at Dunholme Manor in Bournemouth. I know that my great uncle was a japanese prisoner of war for approx 2 years and was classified as 'missing'. If you happen to find any pictures in your fathers album with George Leaf in can you please let me know. Thanks Nicky |

I would think R Signals would be the Royal Corp of Signals. Dad used to refer to it as Royal Signals anyway (not that that would mean its right - lol) cheers Helen |

Hi Hollie and Helen, Would the Royal Corps of Signals be the the same as the R Signals. My great uncle George Leaf served for them. He was born and lived in Yorkshire but the barracks in England was Dunholme Manor in Bournemouth. He served 12/09/1940 to 24/05/1946 in Burma I believe. Any ideas please let me know. Thanks Nicky |

Hi My grandfather "John Thomas Frederick Nolan" known as Mick was in the Royal Corps of Signals. He worked his way up to be a Colour Seargeant. Not sure what dates but it would be between 1930 - 1960. He had the winged mercury "Jimmy" tattooed on his arm. I'm trying to find out if anyone might have any pictures of him or, etc. Thanks! |
