Is it possible to obtain divorce papers? The (possible) divorce I am interested in was between 1922 and 1930.

Hi again Brian, Not sure but I know National Archivist site has divorces on there. Not sure what dates they go up to. Diane ps just had a look only up to 1903 on there. Sure somebody on here will know where to go though.

You can get divorce papers, and it costs £20 for a 10 year search. If possible you need the full names of the couple and also the date of marriage if you have it. I'll go and dig out the address and get back to you. Kath. x

Thanks folks - what a wonderful site this is. You pose a question and in a matter of minutes you get an answer. Not like the "olden days" when you either had to go to the library or write off somewhere and have to wait for the answer ! Thankyou once again.

Just thought I should add, Brian, that if they don't find a divorce, you don't get your money back. I'm looking for the divorce of my late father-in-law from his first wife, and they didn't find it in the 10 year period when I thought it would be. Trying to decide whether to spend another £20. Divorce was rare in the twenties so you could always narrow down the search by checking local papers. It may also have been listed in the Times. There is a newspaper archive that you could check. I found one of my rellies divorce listed there. (Have yet to figure out how I'm related to them yet!) The site can be found at;http://www.)newspaperarchive.)com/BrowsePapers.aspx Happy searching Janet

OK If you go to Bedfordshire Libraries website you can join them online. This then gives you an access code to the Times online. Sounds complicated I Know but it only took me a few seconds to do. Enjoy Janet
