Can anyone tell me what DROPSY is

I remember watching a "Country Matters" play years ago - Im not sure if it was Mill over the Floss. But the young single girl in that got pregnant but told people she had the dropsy. So I imagine it was associated with swelling from fluid? |

Hi Tracy I battled through various websites a little while ago to try to find out what dropsy was. What everyone is saying is correct. It was a blanket term, gradually replaced by Morbus Cordis, which sounded more scientific, but both covered a variety of different conditions. B |

Yeah Nell I have a 16 year old boy who it's stated on the death cert died of Morbus Cordis 1 month underneath written Dropsy Morbus = Disease Cordis = Related to the heart Dropsy = due to Heart failure (in this case) Pat x |

Tracy Rose From that website "Dropsy (or Dropsey) Contraction of hydropsy, which means oedema (fluid retention), often due to Heart failure /Kidney disease " it's actually a symptom rather than a disease. nell |
