My great grandmother's name was Mary Ann Spencer on her marriage certificate to my great grandfather (Joseph Aaron Loftus) her age was 25 she married 7/11/1922 Chester Le Street County of Durham. Her year of birth would be around 1897 which on the 1901 census would have made her 4. The problem I have is that because of her popular name I don't seem to be able to get any further with my trace. On her marriage certificate her father is Thomas Spencer Coal Hewer. Living in Usworth. . Could any kind person sent me in the right direction of how to find the right Spencers Thanks for your time Lorraine |

I found two Mary Spencers born Durham - one in Hylton one in Houghton, both aged three. You would have to pay to open the image - are either of these places close to Usworth? Hazel |

Thank you all for your time. You have given my another direction to look. Other than the 1901 decoder is there another way of looking at the census? Thanks Lorraine |
