Hi everyone, Could use some tips on locating ancestry in the Baltic States, namely Latvia, Sweden. I am looking for anything prior to 1900. Can anyone help please? |

Hi Laila I too have ancestors from Latvia. It seems to be difficult to find out anything unless they were Jewish, in which case there is the Jewishgen (? - not sure of exact name) site. Cyndi's List and the IGI on the Latter Day Saints' site are also quite useful - I think you can get all their website addresses on the links list on the Home Page of this site (scroll down to Genealogy Links). Try Googling also - some people have got results from that. Good Luck! Helen |

Thanks for the reply Helen. One of the members helped me out with the LDS site last night...so I'm on my way. Unfortunately you're right...it is a lot harder for Latvian non-Jews but I will persevere! Good luck in your search too. Cheers Laila |
