(Have a look at Barristers etc) You can see that some trades were less well paid in real terms in 1911 than 40 years before. ......................................1871_.__1881_.__1891_.__1901_.__1911 Agricultural Labourers______123.15__124.56__125.82__138.36__140.88 General Labourers_________154.32__167.64__188.04__206.70__222.12 Messengers and Porters (exc. govt.)_______262.02__291.15__268.53__305.91__257.73 Government low-wage_____191.16__223.95__211.20__216.6__203.85 Police, Guards, Watchmen__167.58__230.19__216.99__ 206.07__211.86 Miners__________________198.60__178.74__248.25__268.11__250.89 Government high-wage____843.06__825.87__645.03__478.89__484.83 Skilled in Shipbuilding______230.49__244.14__263.40__277.53__307.02 Skilled in Engineering______283.14__290.04__321.18__349.50__375.63 Skilled in Building Trades___249.99__261.54__274.56__310.05__315.42 Skilled in Textiles_________247.65__257.31__280.80__304.20__325.50 Skilled in Printing Trades___239.76__259.26__270.12__277.98__291.87 Clergymen_______________881.52__946.11__1010.70__714.00__618.00 Solicitors and Barristers____3978.75_3840.00_4026.12_4500.56_4029.92 Clerks (exc. govt.)________805.89__859.95__804.18__860.58__689.67 Surgeons, Medical Officers_1936.20_1560.87_1426.41_796.17_818.25 Teachers ________________291.06__362.40__401.70__442.50__528.45 Engineers, Surveyors______1737.39_938.91_1141.83_1001.97__862.11
