Thanks for your reply Georgina. Julie, my basic info came from IGI and now I'm trying to confirm it. If I'd not bought quite so many Christmas goodies I might feel more like spending on what may turn out to be yet another dead end!!! Many thanks to you both. Cath.

I have a marriage index reference number from Edinburgh GRO for the marriage of Agnes Lee and Charles Graham in Dumfries in 1808. Bearinig this date in mind, would I be likely to gain any extra information if I buy the actual entry? Thanks for any advice. Cath.
